Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the pattern of microleakage of four different sealant materials. 80 extracted human premolars were divided into 4 groups. 20 specimens of each group were treated with Concise, Fluroshield, Teehtmate-F and Heliosial-F. After thermocycling, specmens were immersed in 2% methylene blue dye solution for 24 hours in an incubator set at 37c. The teeth were sectioned buccolingually and the degree of dye penetration was observed with a steromicroscope.
The results can be summarized as follows
1. Among four kinds of sealants(Concise, Fluroshield, Teethmate-F and Helioseal-F), similar results with no statistical significance were found on the microleakage pattern.
2. Based upon the above-mentioned results of this study, various fluoride-containing sealants should get wider access to clinical dentistry and further efforts to improve the mechanical properties of fluoride-containing sealant and clinical study will be needed.
